This family has been offered several million dollars from developers for their land. They'd rather not take it, so they applied for funds from one of those state funds that pays farmers not to develop their land. I guess they weren't exactly offering very much though. So we're not sure how much longer they'll be in the pumpkin business, but we're enjoying it while it lasts.
Funny enough, I think we actually spoke with the head of the household when we paid for our pumpkins. We said something to the effect that it would be great if they offered cider and doughnuts, too. He laughed and said the Dexter High cheerleaders were supposed to be doing it, and that his wife is actually the coach! But they couldn't get any of the parents to supervise it.
